Description:  
A 5 mile, moderate-to-strenuous hike from Newfound Gap south on the Appalachian Trail (400 ft ascent) to Indian Gap then descend 1500 ft on the Road Prong Trail to the Chimney Tops trailhead. Trip descends from spruce-fir forest through Northern hardwood forest into a cove hardwood forest community. Trail can be rocky and wet with stream crossings. Bring lunch, water, rain gear, and comfortable walking shoes. Limit 20 people.
